The Yummiest & Easiest High Protein Pregnancy Snack

Starting your day with a protein packed meal is one of the best things you can do while pregnant.
It will control your cravings throughout the day, control hunger pains and help you feel energized. While also jump starting your metabolism (which helps with fat burning) and helps control blood sugar.
When I was pregnant, I started my day with either a protein shake, protein oatmeal bowl or a few cookies.

During pregnancy, more than any other time, it’s important to eat a small and healthy meal every few hours.
A lot of pregnant women suffer from morning sickness or all-day sickness. One huge reason is because the stomach empties throughout the night. Then they feel nauseous in the morning, don’t eat and it’s a vicious cycle.
But most of the time, they feel better with a good breakfast.

Did you know that your baby’s growth and development is reliant on vitamins and nutrients from the food you consume?
Yup, for example, your baby’s tissues, brain and most organs need protein to grow and develop properly.
Doctors don’t talk enough about how important the food you consume is for your pregnancy and baby.
This is why it’s important for you to eat several little healthy meals a day. Be sure to eat different meals. So that you are consuming all the different vitamins and nutrients that your baby needs to develop properly.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I am big on being prepared. You also know that I enjoy eating and making healthy food.
Remember, in order to see results you need to eat healthy consistently.

The way that I am able to be consistent is every week I make a new meal plan with yummy, healthy and different meals. So that I never feel deprived and don’t feel like I’m on a “diet”, but during pregnancy, more so for getting a variety of nutrients in.
I’ve been doing this for years and been very successful. I’ve gotten into the best shape of my life after having 2 kids and being over 40! The best part is that I truthfully never feel like I’m dieting.
This pregnancy, you can have a healthy and super fit pregnancy if you make some tweaks to your nutrition. This will help you enjoy being pregnant and feel your best.
I love food and I love to eat. I put in the extra effort and work to make sure I am eating meals that make me feel satisfied.
It does take time and work to do this but it’s worth it. I can’t think of another time that’s better than pregnancy to make that extra effort. Because now… it’s not just about you, it’s about your baby.
By the way, here is another yummy and healthy breakfast recipe, click here and another delicious one, here.

Believe me, I know that pregnancy is hard and that you may not feel like eating often or eating healthy.
Or you may have tons of food aversions and cravings.
However, I really hope you are seeing just how important what you eat or don’t eat is for your pregnancy and baby. I also hope this inspires you to put forth a little more effort into making healthier choices and being a bit more intentional about your nutrition this pregnancy.
IT WILL BE WORTH IT.
There are so many yummy, easy and healthy snack recipes on my blog that you can browse around and save some to a Pinterest board for you to try.
The one thing I will tell you is that when making the snacks, make sure to add a good quality protein powder that doesn’t have artificial sweeteners or flavors or additives because you need extra protein during pregnancy and most women don’t get enough of it.
These healthy baked pancakes, cookies, muffins, etc are a great way to add in extra protein.
When I make my snacks, I always add mPower Protein Powder to them to increase protein and make them more filling as well as more thermic which basically means you burn more calories in the process of digestion, and also kills the hunger hormone, both of these are great for you during pregnancy.
I mean this means it can also help you control weight gain… BAM 🙂

mPower is a protein powder formulated for pregnant women by a doctor.

Blueberry Protein Cookies (~18 cookies)
Ingredients
- 2 cups oats (I use gluten-free)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 scoops Vanilla mPower Protein Powder
- 1/2 cup almond butter
- 2 bananas
- 1/4 cup almond milk (or any other dairy free option)
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- 2 packets stevia or monk fruit or sweetener to taste (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas.
- Add in the milk and almond butter and mix well.
- Add in the protein powder, sweetener and oats and mix until well incorporated.
- Fold in the blueberries.
- Place little dollops on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until done.
- Let cool before you touch them.
Notes
I did not add in any sweetener because I don’t like them super sweet, and the protein powder and banana sweeten them a good amount, but you can add Stevia, Monk Fruit or Brown sugar to taste. Since the batter doesn’t have any eggs, feel free to taste the batter to see if you think it’s sweet enough.
