The One Thing That Is Preventing You From Better Results + Apricot Glazed Chicken Recipe

I find it hilarious and frustrating at the same time, when I speak to my clients sometimes.

For some reason, they always want to find a NEW SOLUTION that will get them those last extra pounds off, or will get their arms toned, or help them lose 25 pounds, or help the kids eat healthier, get more toned……..

I get these types of questions:

  • What can I take?
  • Will that new class help me?
  • Should I do more cardio?
  • Should I workout longer?
  • Can I do that detox?
  • Can we try that new diet?
  • What if I don’t eat dinner?
  • What if I get that food delivery service?
  • What if I eat the same thing every night?
  • Will massages help?
  • What about the body wrap?

You don’t need something “NEW”. 

You don’t need to do any “Extreme Diet”.

You don’t need to “Exercise More”.

You don’t need to buy “That Gadget”.

Everyone is always looking for a “NEW SOLUTION”, “A GADGET”, “A DIET”, “A DETOX”, “A NEW FORM OF EXERCISE”, “A NEW WORKOUT CLASS”, to finally get results.

There is no reason to reinvent the wheel.  What works, works.  We are all made up of the same stuff.  What gets me results, is going to get you results.  

I mean, with some modifications.  But it’s not much farther or intricate than EAT RIGHT and EXERCISE.

But here is the kicker……….. CONSISTENTLY!

The thing is that you may have eaten super healthy for a period of time and exercised for another period of time. But then you fell off the wagon and didn’t go to to gym for 3 months, you didn’t eat clean for a few months, etc.

Listen, it’s not rocket science.  
If you eat clean (80% of the time), and you exercise (moderately), you will see AMAZING results.  The thing is that people don’t do it long enough or consistent enough to actually see a difference and then to maintain the results.

I see it over and over with my clients, even with myself.

I remember a very very long time ago, when I used to try to “EAT PERFECT”……

Counting calories, eating plain bland and boring foods to not eat “extra calories”, “doing way too much cardio”…  But only doing this for periods of time.  It’s impossible to do this for a long enough period of time for it to actually make a lasting difference in your body.  IMPOSSIBLE!

  • There is only so long you can DEPRIVE yourself for.
  • There is only so long you can consistently do 45-60 minutes of cardio every single day.
  • There is only so long you can eat bland food and not enjoy what you eat.
  • There is only so long you can feel hungry for.

Before you go crazy one day!  Before you say “SCREW IT”!  

So, what is most people’s EXCUSE for not being able to do this?

“I DON’T HAVE TIME”.

This is what I get all the time….

  • “I don’t have time to cook every night”.
  • “I don’t have time to get to the grocery store”.
  • “I don’t have time to make a meal plan”.
  • “I don’t have time to make those recipes”.
  • “I don’t have time to exercise 3-5 times a week”.
  • “The kids have activities”…….
  • “I work”…….

I’m sorry to be hard on you if you have used any of these EXCUSES. But YES, you do have time.  I have worked with moms and even dads that work 12-14 hour days and have still been able to do this.  I have worked with women who travel 60% of the time and have still been able to do it.  I have worked with tired and exhausted moms of 3-4 very young children who have been able to do it.  I have worked with moms who have kids in a million after school activities that have been able to do it.  

I myself do it!

Yes, and it’s not easy.  I mean, you know what time I wake up now?  3:30am!  Yep, thats what time I wake up so that I can have time to work on my business, train my clients, workout myself, cook everyday, spend time with my kids, spend time with my husband, go to my sons baseball practices and games, etc……….

Is it hard?  Yes!  Is it worth it?  Heck yes!  Is there a strategy behind it?  You bet!  Can you do it?  100%!  Does it get easier?  Oh Yeah 🙂

So, what is the ONE thing that is preventing you from getting the results you want?

TIME!

But it’s really not.  I’ll tell you what it is:

  • A lack of a PLAN.
  • A lack of a SYSTEM/STRATEGY.
  • A lack of CONSISTENCY.

How do you fix it?

Be CONSISTENT with your PLAN and be SYSTEMIC & STRATEGIC about it.   If you do, you will be finally able to say “It’s a LIFESTYLE”.  Because when it really is a “lifestyle”, your body and life reflect it.

You probably know what to do, you just haven’t been STRATEGIC about it.  Or maybe the plan isn’t good so you haven’t been able to stick to it.   Or you haven’t found the right strategy to incorporate this into your life.  But once you do, your life will change forever.  You will live in a “HAPPY PLACE”.  You will finally achieve your goals, and you will be able to LIVE THERE, forever……. no more yo-yoing!

By the way, before I give you the recipe, I just want to give you some tips that will help you if you are trying to lose weight, get leaner, get more definition, feel more energy, get healthier, and more toned.

Because it’s not just about cooking even though it’s a big part of it.

I have found that a lot of people are “STUCK” with their weight loss because they are eating some of the wrong foods.

So I have to make sure you are not eating one or more of foods on this list.  Because if you are, it can be completely SABOTAGING your results.  Yes, it can totally be true that you can be working your butt off at the gym 6 days a week, eating super healthy (as you think), but if you are eating one or more of these foods, you will NOT BE ABLE TO LOSE WEIGHT.  The reason is because these foods though some may think are healthy or not so bad, are actually very inflammatory.

Apricot Glazed Chicken


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken breasts
  • 1 tsp marjoram or oregano
  • 1/3 cup real fruit preserves (apricot)
  • 1/41/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • s&p to taste
  • Low sodium chicken stock
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken on both sides with s&p.
  2. In a saute pan with a little stock, brown the chicken on both sides.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the preserves, marjoram and vinegar.
  4. Pour into the pan and cook for a while, turning the chicken every few minutes until the sauce reduces and caramelizes into a glaze.
  5. Once done, sprinkle with the parsley and serve.
