You know I hate talking about a number on a scale.
You know I hate weighing and I never do it myself…not when I was pregnant and not even now.
I feel like it just makes me more crazy.
But I talk about weight gain during pregnancy because after working with over 250,000 pregnant women, I know now that for the most part, the #1 concern is weight gain... or “will I ever lose this baby weight”, or “how long will it take”.
Which is why I talk about it.
I also talk about it because I know how you can reduce it without going crazy.
See, I don’t care about the NUMBER. And you shouldn’t either.
You don’t need to gain 20 lbs, or 30 lbs or 40 lbs in order to have a healthy and fit pregnancy.
You also don’t need to gain a certain amount of weight in order to be able to lose all the baby weight.
I have had ladies gain 45-55 lbs and lose all of it and more just a few weeks postpartum.
I can’t get tired of telling you that.
See, it’s more than just “burning calories when you exercise”.
It’s that this type of exercise helps you gain muscle.
Muscle is METABOLICALLY ACTIVE TISSUE.
It burns FAT.
So whether you gain 20 lbs or 50 lbs, if you have muscle, it is going to speed up and ease up your weight loss postpartum.
Having muscle speeds up your metabolism.
It also makes you stronger which helps when working out postpartum.
Exercise during pregnancy also helps you get into a really good habit and routine of exercise.
This makes it ENORMOUSLY easier to do what needs to be done postpartum to lose the weight.
I can’t tell you how many FMTB ladies never worked out before pregnancy and never thought they would be able to lose the baby weight because well…. they never exercised before.
But because they did during pregnancy, and they FELT & SAW the results, and were in the habit already, it wasn’t even a thought of whether they would or not exercise.
They just did and that helped them lose the baby weight and get in the best shape of their life after having babies.
THAT CAN BE YOU.
So even if you started your pregnancy “overweight”, you still have a huge chance to control weight gain and set yourself up to get in great shape after baby.

I show you this to show you IT IS POSSIBLE.
All you need is the desire to be proactive, and the consistency to workout from here on out.
You can do it, you really can.

I get questions all the time from C-section moms.
“Will I be able to lose my baby weight if I have a c-section”
Well, look at Wilmarie over here.
She is BELOW pregnancy weight just over a week-postpartum.
How insane and hopeful is that?
What I see the most of is not even how much weight they gain… but how much weight they lose after baby because they exercised postpartum.
Not to mention, you decrease the chances of postpartum depression big time by doing so.
Check out this mom-to be, who also started pregnancy a little heavier than she would have wanted to, but that didn’t stop her from being proactive and doing something about it while pregnant.
See, my frustration is that so many women feel down because they start pregnancy overweight, or not where they wanted to, and they think they can’t do anything about it.
They wait until after having the baby to be proactive.
What you do now while pregnant will have a huge impact on what will happen postpartum.
- It’s not too late, mama.
- You don’t have to wait until after baby to do something.
- It will just be worse, and harder.
As you can see, this mama said she ate “fairly healthy”.
You don’t have to diet during pregnancy to have a healthy and fit pregnancy.
If you just focus on eating healthy foods, on not eating for 2, but just giving your body fuel and good nutrients and don’t binge eat and indulge moderately BUT YOU EXERCISE…… you will do amazing, just like all these moms.
I hope you are getting excited and motivated to do something.
And if you are upset because you are “too far into your pregnancy” to do something.
YOU ARE NOT.
Look at Jane, she started at almost 30 weeks pregnant.
She still saw amazing results.
That is why I live for saying ITS NEVER TOO LATE.
It really isn’t and Jane here is telling you that.
When you exercise, it also makes you eat healthier and make better choices.
It’s a win-win.
So what do you say?
- Let’s stop obsessing over a certain “number” of pounds you want to weigh.
- Let’s stop stepping on the scale and leave it to ONLY your monthly doctor visits.
- And let’s put all our focus on being proactive.
On exercising, gaining strength for labor, building muscle that will help us later to lose that baby weight faster, feeling more energized and confident.
