Brown Rice or Jasmine Rice?
Which one is best?
Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by best.
Taste wise… I would have to say Jasmine Rice.
As far as the Calories, Carbs, Protein, Fat, etc., they are both pretty much the same. And both are gluten-free.
In 3/4 of a cup of both cooked brown rice and jasmine rice, there are 160 calories. They both have 34 grams of carbs, but brown rice does have 2 grams of those carbs being fiber, while the jasmine rice has 0 grams of fiber. So in terms of fiber and its benefits, brown rice is best.
As far as “nutritional value”, jasmine rice has less “B” Vitamins than does brown rice.
But the one good thing about jasmine rice is that for those people with digestive problems, jasmine rice may be easier to digest. The process of milling the grain is greater for the white jasmine rice, making it slightly easier on digestion.
I love both of them!
So I eat both of them weekly.
Some days, I make brown rice and enjoy the benefits of the fiber and B Vitamins and some days, I enjoy Jasmine Rice with most of the same nutritional fact but slightly better on the taste buds.
To me, its all about moderation. I truly believe that its crucial to enjoy what you eat in order to be able to be consistent enough to get great results.

Well, since I told you I love the taste of Jasmine Rice, which by the way also cooks a heck of a lot faster. So some days, I make Jasmine, just because I can cook it faster 🙂 I am going to share with you a recipe that is OFF THE CHAIN. Seriously, it was so easy and so tasty. I mean how many times a week, a month, a year, can you eat plain ol’ rice….. UGH!

By the way, before I give you the recipe, I just want to give you some tips that will help you if you are trying to lose weight, get leaner, get more definition, feel more energy, get healthier, and more toned.
Because it’s not just about cooking even though it’s a big part of it.
I have found that a lot of people are “STUCK” with their weight loss because they are eating some of the wrong foods.
So I have to make sure you are not eating one or more of foods on this list. Because if you are, it can be completely SABOTAGING your results. Yes, it can totally be true that you can be working your butt off at the gym 6 days a week, eating super healthy (as you think), but if you are eating one or more of these foods, you will NOT BE ABLE TO LOSE WEIGHT. The reason is because these foods though some may think are healthy or not so bad, are actually very inflammatory.
Inflammation in the digestive track makes it incredibly hard if not impossible to burn fat. So in order to be able to burn fat so you can lose weight effectively, its crucial that you take these foods out of your diet.

Be CONSISTENT with your PLAN and be SYSTEMIC & STRATEGIC about it. If you do, you will be finally able to say “It’s a LIFESTYLE”. Because when it really is a “lifestyle”, your body and life reflect it.

Cilantro-Spiced Rice Recipe
- 2 cups jasmine rice
- 4 cups water
- salt to taste
- Drizzle EVOO
- 1 1/2 tsp cumin
- Juice of 3 limes
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- pepper to taste
- Cook the rice as usual.
- Meanwhile, whisk the vinaigrette ingredients and pour over rice once cooked.
- Fold well and serve.
