Boost Metabolism With Food

Tell me the truth….How many times have you said or thought to yourself, I’m hungry but I’ll just wait a few more hours until lunch or dinner?

Do you wake up and eat breakfast?

Or do you wait as long as you can manage your hunger before you eat?

I know… I know…

You’re probably doing it thinking the more you wait between meals, the less calories you will eat and the more weight you will lose.

But my question is…

HOW IS THAT WORKIN FOR YA?

LOL… If you have been doing this and not losing weight, I want to ask you to be open minded about what I’m about to say.

The definition of INSANITY is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

Boost Your Metabolism With Food

It’s time to change.

Eating is good for you.

Eating speeds up your metabolism.

Whether you are pregnant or not pregnant…. you need to eat and you need to eat often.

Do you want to be able to burn fat easily?

You should want to do this whether you are pregnant or not.

It’s possible to be pregnant and lose fat safely so that you just gain “baby weight”, which then becomes super easy to lose.

In this case, you want a FAST METABOLISM.

By eating less times a day, you are making it harder for your body to know how to use the food you eat and burn it up to use as energy.

NOT GOOD!

Check out this post for 5 tips to help you burn fat effectively while boosting your metabolism.

Let me tell you why ITS SO BAD TO DEAL WITH HUNGER & WAIT TO EAT…

First of all, when too long goes without you eating, you have LOW BLOOD SUGAR.

When you have low blood sugar, your body is in a state of stress and physiologically it is SCREAMING FOR SUGAR {cravings}

At this point, you are basically screwed. (sorry lol).

I say that because I’ve been there, and it is really really really hard to have WILL POWER when your body needs sugar in order to create some stability.

This is usually when we make bad choices, give in to cravings and over eat.

The goal should be to maintain a balanced blood sugar which is achieved when you eat every few hours.

This prevents low blood sugar, which will prevent CRAVINGS and over eating.

If you get a lot of cravings… whether pregnant or not, you should focus on making sure you eat a small meal or snack every few hours and DO NOT LET YOURSELF GET HUNGRY.

It’s hard to not over eat or make poor food choices when you are hungry.

It’s a hormonal thing, you are at a physiological disadvantage.

Catch yourself and eat before you get hungry and you will see how much better you will eat and how much less you will eat, and how much easier it is to eat healthy.

When you wait as long as you can to eat, you end up playing catch up all day and end up eating poorly or “bad” choices or OVER EATING later on in the day.

I’ve been there.

  1. Wait as long as possible to eat breakfast…
  2. Starving at lunch but have will power and eat healthy and little.
  3. Starving one hour later.
  4. Drink water, coffee, tea, chew gum, brush your teeth…
  5. Wait as long as you can to eat lunch.
  6. Eat a healthy lunch, don’t over eat…
  7. Starving an hour later.
  8. Wait as long as you can to have a next meal.

Only to end up:

  • Picking at kids snacks
  • Snacking in pantry or fridge.
  • Eat while you cook.
  • Extra serving at dinner.
  • Eat crap after dinner cuz you’re still hungry.

You see how you end up playing catch up the entire day.

Always to end up making poor choices in the evening or late afternoon.

Many people say they eat healthy all day and mess it up at night or get “cravings”.

I bet if you started eating every few hours, that wouldn’t happen.

I eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner.

One big mistake you may be making is not sitting down and eating a dang snack.

You don’t want to “eat” cuz you’re trying to eat healthy so you end up grazing or picking at food instead of just serving yourself something.

You end up having more calories that way then if you just sat down and had a good healthy snack….. AND ENJOY IT!

Yesterday, I was going to basketball practice with my son at 6 pm.

I had lunch around 3 pm and I knew I wasn’t gonna have dinner until 8:30 or so.

Know what I did?

I ate a snack at 5:30.

I made myself an mPower Smoothie, it was so yummy, hit that little sweet craving I was having and held me over comfortably til dinner.

My girlfriend was at the practice with me and she was starving…

She said she was hungry about 10 times. Lol.

That is when its easy to go to the vending machine or eat crap as soon as you walk through the door or eat too much at dinner.

Why?

It’s better to just have a healthy snack and be done.

You will eat healthier and feel better if you stop being afraid to eat.

Its not eating that is making you gain weight or not letting you lose weight.

It’s eating the wrong foods, in the wrong amounts and at the wrong times.

Losing hormonal and physiological battles with blood sugar, insulin, etc.

I hope you are convinced to no longer “wait as long as you can to eat”

I hope you have lost your fear of eating.

If making healthy snacks is hard for you, then have a shake.

I do both.

Sometimes I make pancakes, muffins, cookies, etc. (always add mPower to them for added protein)

Sometimes I have mPower shakes: they fill me up, hold me over, crush my cravings and soooo yummy.

If you haven’t tried mPower, you are seriously not living lol

But for real…its soooo good.
