Banana Chocolate-Chip Gluten-Free Loaf 

I remember the days when I wouldn’t dare eat a banana.

I mean…..  All that sugar……………..

 

And now that I am older and wiser, I have realized that adding a little banana to a “healthy baked treat”, or a protein smoothie, is not going to kill me.  And even better, it won’t make me “fat”, gain “weight”, nor prevent me from getting results.

 

By the way, now I have a Protein Smoothie Pinterest Board and it rocks, make sure to check it out and follow it for yummy recipe ideas. 

 

Those were back in the days when I didn’t know better and I deprived myself all the time.  But guess what?  No I don’t freak out about stuff like that, I eat more moderately and I have gotten better results than ever before.  This is me after my second child.  (she is 14 months in this picture.)

 

All of this to tell you, don’t freak out about a little banana in your diet or a little natural sugar.  Especially when you eat clean all the time.

Ok, now that I’ve gone “BANANAS”, I’ll share with you this awesome recipe which my son Nico helped me make.

 

But before I give you the recipe, I just want to give you some tips that will help you with your weight loss and fitness goals.

 

Because it’s not just about cooking even though it’s a big part of it.

 

I have found that a lot of people are “STUCK” with their weight loss because they are eating some of the wrong foods.

 

So I have to make sure you are not eating one or more of foods on this list.  Because if you are, it can be completely SABOTAGING your results.  Yes, it can totally be true that you can be working your butt off at the gym 6 days a week, eating super healthy (as you think), but if you are eating one or more of these foods, you will NOT BE ABLE TO LOSE WEIGHT.  The reason is because these foods though some may think are healthy or not so bad, are actually very inflammatory.

Inflammation in the digestive track makes it incredibly hard if not impossible to burn fat. So in order to be able to burn fat so you can lose weight effectively, its crucial that you take these foods out of your diet.

Banana Chocolate Chip Loaf


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups oatmeal (I use Gluten-Free Bobs Red Mill)
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 3 tbsp Agave nectar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 34 tbsp non-dairy milk (I use DREAM blends), or more if needed for desired consistency
  • 34 tbsp dairy and gluten free chocolate chips
  • 1 scoop Vanilla Protein Powder (I use PROGRADE)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a food processor, process the oats until it looks like flour.
  3. Then pulse in the remaining ingredients, except for the chocolate chips.
  4. Blend well and then fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour batter into a lightly coconut oil greased loaf pan and bake for ~ 25 minutes or until done.


 

By the way, since I’ve gone “BANANAS”, I thought I would share some health benefits of banana.

  • High in Vitamin C.
  • High in Fiber.
  • High in Manganese.
  • Low in Fat & Cholesterol.
  • Used as a fat substitute in baking in order to healthily.

I hope you try this.  Its amazingly yummy and good for you. You can also add walnuts, chia seeds or almonds to add some healthy fats and it would be delish.

 

It can actually be really enjoyable and not so hard to eat healthy and lose weight and get results when you follow a plan that is good, that is manageable and maintainable. One that doesn’t feel like a diet.  That is why I always share recipes with you guys. Because if you don’t enjoy what you are eating, you won’t stick to it, and if you are not consistent then its really hard to see results.

 

That is what everyone always tells me about My Healthy Meal Plans.  It doesn’t even feel like a diet but they lose 2-6 lbs a week and their families actually love the meals too.

 

I actually follow them myself.  I couldn’t do this without a plan.  Trying to figure out what to eat each night, not knowing what I have at home or what ingredients I know.  Its just so much easier to eat healthy when you have a plan.

 

My advice to you is take the time and write out a plan every single week of what you will eat.  Vary it all the time and find good fat burning meal combo’s that taste good and you can enjoy.  make your shopping lists and always be prepared.  You will for sure see amazing results if you get used to doing this.
