Are You Eating For 2 During Your Pregnancy?

Eating for 2!

How many times have you heard that coming out of a pregnant woman’s mouth?

Sometimes its other people that tell the pregnant women…….  Sooooo, are you eating for 2?

Most people are not educated on nutrition, especially not nutrition for pregnancy

I actually find that most OB’s don’t even educate pregnant women ENOUGH on NUTRITION during pregnancy.

Which is why so many women have such unhealthy pregnancies and end up gaining so much weight.

I think that if doctors took a little more time to educate women on how important it is to have a healthy nutrition (I hate the word DIET), then more pregnant women would have healthier pregnancies and easier pregnancies.

There would be less gestational diabetes and pregnancy induced thyroid problems.

If doctors explained how much nutrition affects not just your pregnancy but your baby as well, then even more so we wold have more pregnant women having healthier and more fit pregnancies…..

It’s so frustrating.

It’s frustrating because women DESERVE to have a healthy, happy and confident pregnancy and so many are suffering feeling huge, sick, nauseous, self conscious, tired, fatigued, and have a really hard time losing their baby weight postpartum because no one STRESSED the impact of food and nutrition during pregnancy.

Pregnancy is the most precious and wonderful blessing and gift that God gives us women.

And it can be such an amazing and enjoyable experience if you are healthy, not uncomfortable because you have 50 lbs extra and if you have energy and sleep well because you are active.

I tell ya………  That is why I am so happy I followed my own Fit Mom-To-Be Workouts during both my pregnancies.

Not only did I only gain 20 lbs each pregnancy, but I also had pretty good sleep and never felt super uncomfortable and I had ENERGY……

ENERGY can be gained by what you eat and by exercise….. yet so many women are struggling so much to just get by during pregnancy because they feel so tired and fatigued.  AGGHHHHH

I really don’t think it’s luck or that I’m any different than anyone else.

The thing is that if you gain an extra 6o lbs your back is going to hurt more, your joints, your muscles become tight from pulling you in different directions.

You have increased chances of gestational diabetes and pregnancy induced thyroid issues which put such a strain on pregnancy.

Carrying and extra 60 lbs also makes you feel more tired and fatigued and it affects your sleep.

It’s just so not worth it to gain all that weight. And it’s really not that hard to not do so.  You just have to make healthy choices.

Listen, I remember definitely being more hungry than usual when I was pregnant (both times).

I especially remember it HURTING when I got hungry.

That and well…… watch out, you did not want to talk to me if I was hungry.

So I really did my best to not allow myself to “GET HUNGRY”.

And I believe that is one of the biggest mistakes we make during pregnancy.

Not eat enough…. let yourself get hungry.

You cannot afford to let yourself get hungry.  If you do, you will get low blood sugar and when that happens you CRAVE SUGAR and so not only do you get “bad food” cravings but then that is when you OVER-EAT.

So women get on this cycle of letting too much time go without eating and then they feel nauseous, weak and sick and then they CRAVE bad food and it feels like its the only thing that will make them feel better.

Then you eat junk, and A LOT of it.

Then that makes you feel like crap.

Vicious cycle.

Then you gain too much weight, it makes you feel like crap, makes labor harder, makes recovery harder and then it takes FOREVER if ever to get the weight off.

I made sure to carry a snack with me everywhere I went to ensure I would never go hungry.  Because if I did, it was a disaster.

  • Number ONE, I would be as CRANKY as could be.
  • Number TWO, I would feel weak and sick.
  • Number THREE, I would want to eat everything but the kitchen sink (and at this point not anything healthy).

So, its true, you will get hungry faster, maybe a LITTLE  bit more than usual but you’re not so hungry that you need to eat a bowl of pasta, 3 pieces of bread, and an ice cream brownie.

If you are eating a healthy meal every few hours and not letting yourself get hungry, you will never feel that need to over eat or binge eat.

It really can make all the difference in the world for your pregnancy.

If you are too busy to make a healthy snack, this would be the perfect time to have a delicious, easy and quick PROTEIN SHAKE.

Lucky for you, now there is a protein powder that is safe for pregnancy.

mPower is protein powder specifically formulated for pregnancy and breastfeeding.

It was created with a doctor and its not only the most delicious protein powder you have EVER tried…. but it also counts as your prenatal.

And an added plus is it has all the B vitamins which helps with nausea and morning sickness, also helps with energy and if weight gain is a problem… it helps with that because it helps combat cortisol which is normally high during pregnancy because we aren’t sleeping enough, not quality sleep, we are under stress.. and when cortisol is high, it makes it easier to gain BELLY FAT…
And what prego needs more belly fat?  lol
Did I mention how delicious it is?

It also has prebiotics, probiotics and digestive enzymes…
So if you normally get gassy and bloated and constipated from protein powders… this is a game changer.
Plus, digestion affects weight gain and weight loss.
When you fix digestion… its easier to not pile on the pounds because you can burn fat more effectively… and digestive enzymes and probiotics will help with that.
Did, I tell you that its insanely good and also helps crush cravings?

Did you know that you ONLY need an extra “300” CALORIES more per day during pregnancy?eating-for-2-2

That is like nothing, that is like a fruit and a half of an avocado!

My pregnant friend, I go out of my way to teach women like you because I really am passionate about helping pregnant women.  I loved being pregnant and I think that every woman deserves to enjoy their pregnancy.

If they don’t, its a long 10 months!

Check  out what the NEWS has to say about PREGNANCY FITNESS AND NUTRITION.

EXERCISE is also another thing that pregnant women should do.

Every single OB should recommend to every single pregnant women (unless high risk), to exercise.

Did you know that it’s also beneficial for your baby? And it helps you tone up and strengthen your body and prepare it for labor.  It helps you be able to lose your baby weight sooooo much faster.  It’s insane not to exercise!

I’m telling you, you will find that if you EAT HEALTHY and EXERCISE during your pregnancy, you will have so much more energy, your mood will be better, you will be less achy and uncomfortable, you will feel more confident, maybe even have some muscle tone and the best is being able to lose your baby weight and get your body back to pre pregnancy in just a few weeks versus a year.

Can you imagine that?

Walking out of the hospital with baby in hand only 5-10 lbs away from pre-pregnancy weight?

That is so easy to lose!

You will not feel as sick, you will have more energy, you will look soooo much better, feel more confident, be less moody, reduce your chances of gestational diabetes, have less aches and pains, a faster labor, a faster recovery postpartum and get back in your clothes in way less time.

Seriously…….  If you are not willing to invest 3 hours a week to exercise (THATS ALL IT TAKES) and making healthy options MOST of the time (because you can still splurge a little), for all the benefits above, you have to be Cray-Cray!
