5 Must-Have’s For Your Postpartum Body

How come nobody tells you about the postpartum days?
I mean, we mostly hear the horror stories of labor and delivery and then we also hear about all the pre go’s that hate being pregnant, but no one tells us about postpartum.
Because I don’t know about you, but I was in for a rude awakening, at least the first time around LOL.
Now first, let me give you a tip that really helped me.
As soon as you finally wake up for the day (meaning your last morning feed where you actually feel human enough to function), take a shower, put a cute outfit on, put a little bit of make up on, make your bed, and then sit with a cup of Mothers Milk Tea.
I can’t tell you enough how much this helped me.
I refused to be like those moms that 5pm rolls around and still in pjs, house a mess, and feeling so bad about yourself.
I mean, its enough that we have raging hormones, lack of sleep and we still look like we are pregnant.
If you make yourself feel better about yourself, you will. And I’m telling you, postpartum depression will escape you.
I know its hard because you feel so gross, you have a huge pad on, you are hurting down there, hemorrhaging your life away and you are exhausted. But take the few minutes to make yourself look and feel decent. It helps!
Ok, so I want to share with you some ideas of things you should have at home for when you get home from the hospital postpartum.
I also want to encourage you to make healthy choices when eating.
I know you are probably a little frustrated like most pregnant women, because your OB hasn’t educated you much on Pregnancy Nutrition.
It’s actually quite frustrating for me…
Aside from giving you a list of foods you should NOT eat, and weighing you in every week, that is pretty much it. And it’s insane because what you eat doesn’t just affect YOU! It affects the baby as well.
Its very easy to say “you have to slow down with your weight gain”, but not give you any tools or resources to help you.
But you have to control what you eat and not use this pregnancy as an excuse to “Eat For 2”. I mean you don’t by any means have to diet. I certainly didn’t and I did allow myself some splurges. I would eat a bagel a week which I normally don’t when I’m not pregnant, I usually stick to oatmeal which I love. But you just have to make GOOD CHOICES. You should want to anyways because everything you are eating now is affecting your little baby. So make good choices girlfriend.
So here is what I’m going to do for you. I’m going to give you a NUTRITION GUIDE with exactly what to eat, all the RECIPES, good SNACK OPTIONS, etc. So that you can get an idea of how you should be eating during your pregnancy so that you can be healthy, be creating the best possible environment for your baby, and so that you don’t gain EXCESS WEIGHT so that you are not super uncomfortable all during pregnancy and feeling huge and self conscious. And so that you can lose all your baby weight fast postpartum.

I made this 2-Week Nutrition Guide to give away for FREE to all my pregos because I work with so many in my Fit Mom-To-Be Workout Program that always have so many NUTRITION questions. So, I figured I would make this in an easy to read, print and follow way to help you take the guesses out of how to eat optimally during your pregnancy.
If you follow it and you EXERCISE, you will not just have a great pregnancy but you will feel CONFIDENT, RADIENT, GLOWING. You won’t be uncomfortable and have aches and pains because you’ve gained so much weight. You will have an easier labor and delivery. You will sleep better, have more energy. And you will seriously decrease your chances of falling into POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION.
I did My Fit Mom-To-Be Workouts from the moment I found out I was pregnant until the day before I went into labor and I felt amazing, only gained 20lbs and lost 22lbs within 3 weeks of having my baby.
Exercising during pregnancyalso helps you speed and ease delivery. Isn’t that the best news you’ve gotten all day? My labor was less than 4 hours and I pushed for about 10 minutes. Thank goodness for those workouts. Check out what this woman said about my Pregnancy Fit-Mom Workouts.

I can’t wait for you to get this Nutrition Guide, the recipes are amazing, and there are so many different options for snacks. You are going to love it. Download it here (It’s totally FREE): PREGNANCY NUTRITION GUIDE.

5 Must-Have’s For Your Postpartum Body

1. Pre-cooked Meals: about a week or two before I was due, I spent about a whole week cooking and freezing meals (healthy ones). I used my Eat To Be Fit Healthy Recipes Book to make sure I had meals that were healthy and wouldn’t make me gassy since I was going to nurse. This helps so much because the last thing you want to be doing when you are exhausted is cooking. Plus, you also want to ensure you are eating healthy not only because you need the nutrients if you are nursing but also because who wants to keep all the baby weight?
I cooked about 2 weeks worth of meals and healthy snacks, all from my book. And not only was it a relief knowing my family had healthy meals and I didn’t have to worry about it, but I knew I was on my way to losing all my weight (and I did in 3 weeks). Well, that and the fact that I did my Fit Mom-To-Be Workouts during all of my pregnancy.
2. Stool Softener: ummmm can I say, ouch! I don’t what kind of delivery you are going to have, but I had 2 vaginal deliveries and both I had episiotimies done. So, I had stitches, and the thought of excuse the details…… pushing, scared the living crap out of me. You will definitely want to have this at home because it will help you not want to scream every time you have to go to the bathroom.
3. A Belly Band or Wrap: with my first pregnancy I started wearing it when I got home. But my second, they actually gave me a wrap in the hospital. OMG, I can’t tell you how much it helped. Not only with it pulling the belly in which actually alleviated some of the uncomfortableness, but also helps the muscles in the abdomen area start going back to where they belong.
I had a pretty flat belly within days of both my deliveries. I think the band helped but I have to attribute it mostly also to my Fit Mom-To-Be Workouts. I’m so glad that I stuck to them both times. Even with a 4 month break with placenta previa the second one. But there is no comparison on “Belly Flattening” when it comes to Exercise & PostPartum. Those that exercise during pregnancy lose the pooch way faster.
4. Big Underwear & Pads: Yuk, I know! But you really need them. I mean, the bleeding is out out control, plus you may have stitches and you will need to wear pads. Get the biggest ones and with wings. And as far as undies. You don’t have to get the big ol’ grandma underwear. I got really cute ones from Victoria’s Secret. Like Boy Shorts types of undies. These help you feel a little sexy when you really feel so gross. But seriously, big granny undies will increase your postpartum depression because it just contributes to your feeling yuk!
5. A Special New Insulated Cup: You will be needing to drink a ton of water, especially if you are nursing. Get a cute cup that you are excited about. You will want to fill it up constantly and sip it throughout the day.
Ok, there you have it, now go stock up on all these things. They will make your postpartum experience so much better.

I loved being pregnant and I did as good as I possibly could postpartum because I was in great shape during pregnancy and I was also in a good state of mind. I embraced the whole experience and enjoyed it as much as I could. It really helps to have the right mind set and to have a safe and effective workout plan to follow.
All my pre go’s that do my Fit Mom-To-Be Workouts tell me the same thing. Ahhhhh, it makes such a huge difference.
Good luck, enjoy your pregnancy!
