Listen, my prego friend, though it is totally possible to lose fat during pregnancy, I don’t want you to focus on the scale and on dieting and on losing weight.

You are pregnant, you have to gain weight.

You just want it to be healthy weight and not “EXCESS WEIGHT”.

 

And if you do the right things, you will not gain any excess weight and you can lose body fat and tone up EVEN WHILE PREGNANT.

I did it, and so do all the girls in my Fit Mom To-Be Program.

 

I just don’t want you to obsess about the weight, because it will make your pregnancy that much harder and longer and stressful.

But you definitely CAN lose body fat during pregnancy.

 

I have been working with pregnant women for over 8 years and I can tell you what has helped those that have gained minimal weight and had healthy and fit pregnancies and been able to lose their baby weight fast.

 

How To Lose Body Fat During Pregnancy

  1. Exercise 3-4 times a week.
  2. Resistance Training workouts are best for losing body fat and toning up.
  3. Hydrate:  1/2 your body weight (in pounds), in ounces of water.
  4. Eat a small healthy meal with lean protein, healthy carbs, veggies every 2-3 hours.
  5. Make sure to incorporate healthy fats in your diet {~30%}:  avocado, nuts, seeds (pumpkin, chia, flax), oil in their natural state, nut butters (no peanuts).
  6. Cut out sugar, pre-packaged meals, high sodium, wheat, gluten and low on dairy.
  7. Take a good quality fish oil and liquid Vitamin B.

 

Exercise 3-4 times a weekhow to lose body fat during pregnancy workout

  • Resistance or weight training based workouts are the best because they help you get strong so that you have less aches and pains and have a more COMFORTABLE pregnancy.
  • It also burns more calories than CARDIO.
  • It also builds muscle (which cardio doesn’t), and helps you tighten up and tone.
  • It also works the core a lot so it really helps prevent a further distention of the abdomen muscles so that you don’t end up with a pooch postpartum that you can’t get rid of.

If you do 3 resistance based workouts and 1-3 20-minute cardio workouts per week you will only gain baby weight.

How awesome will it be to walk around all pregnancy hearing…..  “Wow, you look amazing, you are ALL BELLY”.

Here is a little RESISTANCE BASED WORKOUT that works the whole body and will take you 15-20 minutes.

 

A1.  20 Lateral Lunges per side

A2.  20 Front Raises

A3.  20  Deadlifts

A4.  20 Dumbbell High Rows

Rest and repeat 2 more times

 

Hydrate

This will help you to not retain so much water which happens so much during pregnancy.

Buy yourself a good bottle of water that holds 20 oz or more.

One that you like and will drink a lot from.

I’m kinda particular with water cups, some I drink a lot from and some I don’t so I try to find ones that I can drink a lot from.

It helps 🙂

 

Nutrition To Lose Body Fat During Pregnancy

If you eat a small healthy meal composed of lean protein, healthy carb and veggie with some good fat every 3 hours, you will only gain the weight you need for your baby.

I promise.

 

I have been working with pregnant women for over 8 years and the ones that stick to it really only gain less than 35 lbs which is so easy to lose post-baby.

You just have to make sure you are getting in all the nutrients the baby needs.

Cutting out a few foods will also help tremendously.

And remember…….  All things in moderation.

You can still have your favorite dessert, or pizza once a week, etc…..  just do so moderately.

Just don’t use pregnancy as an excuse to eat, eat “bad food” and over eat.

I promise………  You will regret it later.

 

Cut Out/Lessen

  • Wheat/Gluten
  • Dairy
  • Saturated Fat
  • Pre-packaged foods
  • Sugar
  • Soda
  • Anything with artificial sweeteners
  • Sugary juices or drinks. 

 

Sample Pregnancy Meal Plan

Breakfast

4 Egg White Omelet with spinach and Ezekiel Toast or Bowl of oatmeal.

Snack

Apple and Cashews

Lunch

Chicken Apple Chili with Brown Rice and Sliced Avocado

Snack

Strawberry Protein Muffins

Dinner

Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps with Avocado
