I Used To “DIET” All The Time & Do Tons And Tons Of “CARDIO”, But Now I Don’t And I Look & Feel Better Than Ever!

I am a mother of 2 beautiful kids.  

Total Type “A” personality.  So you know it…….  “A bit OCD” 🙂

I still train clients because I love to (been doing it for 20 years) and I have this crazy amazing online business that keeps me on my toes.

We are Christians and do everything we can to make God the center of our lives.

I WAS SO CONFUSED

When I became a trainer at age 18, I was still in the search (probably much like you are), to find the easiest, quickest, best way to get in shape.  To look like the picture I had in my head.

Being in the fitness field, I was surrounded by trainers, fitness competitors and exercise and diet enthusiasts who were amazing people but also confused the heck out of me.

Everyone around me was counting calories, weighing food and doing the typical 45 minutes of cardio on an empty stomach and many of them doing fitness and bodybuilding shows and competitions.

So of course, I started doing the same.

Meal prep for me those days consisted of tupperwares of grilled or baked chicken breast, brown rice or baked sweet potato and broccoli and on occasion tuna salad.  

I ate the same thing all the time because it was “easy” and because when you are eating such bland food because thats what you think it takes to get results, it really is the simplest way to do it.

I remember not even putting much milk in my coffee to not add “EXTRA CALORIES”.

I barely ate fruit because it had “TOO MUCH SUGAR”.

I dipped my fork in my salad dressing to not add “MORE CALORIES”.

If I was hungry, I drank water, coffee or chewed gum…………  So far from “healthy”, so far from “lifestyle”.

Until one day, I couldn’t take it anymore.

I COULDN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE!

One day, I had a sort of out of body experience.

I started seeing myself and what I was doing and thinking………..  Man, can I really continue to do this?

Can I continue to eat this way, feeling like I’m on a DIET all the time?

Is this really a lifestyle I can maintain?

I felt like such a hypocrite to my clients.

I kept telling my clients to do everything I was doing because it was this “HEALTHY LIFESTYLE”.  But in reality, it felt very far from a lifestyle.  I really didn’t know if I could go on this way.

I ate super healthy most of the time but I was always awaiting the CHEAT DAY, days going by feeling DEPRIVED, RESTRICTED…………  “Miserable”!

I remember eating  a cheat meal and feeling bad about it and then going to the gym the next day to do 45 minutes of cardio to “BURN IT OFF!”

I knew at that moment, that something had to change.  

I needed to find an approach that was really a lifestyle.  A way of eating that I could feel good about and enjoy and do forever.

IMG_1064So I started immersing myself in books, watching cooking shows, researching online and became a SELF TAUGHT CHEF 😉

I even taught Cooking Classes!

And then I wrote my first book, Eat To Be Fit, a collection of my healthy recipes.

After many years, I found moderation.

I don’t feel like I’m dieting a day of my life now.  I eat clean 80% of the time and 20% I have fun.  I don’t have “cheat days”, I’m not obsessed with food…..  I feel good!

Then I came out with my program MMF Healthy Meal Plans, where I teach people how I did this.

You may even scroll down my social media feed and find a picture like this……..  

Enjoying myself!  

Having a life, and not revolving it around what I’m eating.

I found a way to not be ALL OR NOTHING.  I found BALANCE, and I want to share it with you.

And that is what you will get with me.

If you want a QUICK FIX, I’m not your girl.

If you want to lose weight fast, I’m not your girl.

If you want to do a body building or physique show, I’m not your girl.

If you are going to continue searching and asking for the next “faja”, “body wrap”, or tool, I’m not your girl.

If you are going to want me to give you a specific diet with calorie counts, I’m not your girl.

If you “think” you want to eat the same thing every day cuz its easy, I’m not your girl.

If you want to count calories and ask me how many macro’s are in my recipes, I’m not your girl.

If you are not willing to put forth some effort and trust me a little, I’m not your girl.

If you want to continue to do hours of cardio, I’m not your girl.

Speaking of cardio………..

I USED TO DO SO MUCH CARDIO

I used to do at least 4-5 days of 30-60 minutes of cardio.  I used to do Spinning Classes, Zumba Classes, Kickboxing Classes, and hours a week of cardio on those darn machines.

I won’t lie, I did get some results, but in comparison to how I look and feel now, it really wasn’t that good.  

I look way better NOW……  After 2 kids.

And guess what?

I exercise way less.

I now do 3 weight training workouts per week and 1-2 20-25 minute cardio workouts.

And I get way better results.

I was burning all the muscle I was working so hard for by doing so much cardio.

I thought that the cardio would burn the “BAD MEALS” I was having, I thought it was helping me get leaner.

But it was doing the opposite.

When I realized that I wasn’t enjoying doing so much cardio………..  

That it felt more like a job than something I was doing because I was enjoying it……..

That I was breaking my butt and spending hours a week sweating……………..

But I didn’t really see huge changes, I began to try new things.

And after many years of continuing education courses, thousands of dollars and years of trial and error, I began to piece things together and find a formula that worked every single time._MG_1393 copy

I started changing my clients workouts programs, cardio and diet and I began to see the same changes.

But now not only were the body changes so much better……….  

But they were actually way HAPPIER too!  And they were exercising less, but smarter 🙂

They were not OBSESSED with their body’s, not obsessed with their diet and food, not over-exercising…….  But BALANCED!

I began to love exercise and not just the results.

See I always loved exercise, but I think I was in love more with the results from it or maybe I was afraid of what could happen if I didn’t exercise.

Now I exercise because I truly love it.

I don’t ever do anything I don’t LOVE.

I don’t do crossfit because others are.

I don’t do yoga because of the results others get.

I don’t do obstacle courses, races and boot camps because its trendy.

I ONLY DO WORKOUTS AND EXERCISES I ENJOY!

And that is what I want for you!

I want you to exercise because you love it and enjoy it and actually look forward to it, not because you feel you have to.

I want you to find workouts that get you amazing results and change your body and it doesn’t feel like a drag!

So, I’m not your girl if you are going to continue to do tons of cardio every week.

I’m not your girl if you won’t trust me and try some resistance training.

I’m not your girl if you will continue with the mentality that more is better.

I’m not your girl if you are trying to compete with other girls.

_MG_1347So there you go, that is me in a nutshell and what has driven me to continue to create tools and programs for people like you that like me thought that the way to get results was what I explained above.

I’m just a WORKING MOM that has dedicated her life to fitness and health and is now on a mission to help women enjoy a life of health and fitness without being obsessive and compulsive.
