I was so busy and just careless that I would go to work or run errands and I would have breakfast and then hours would go by without eating and then I was famished.

Wanting to eat every sweet thing I saw in sight.

I also want to encourage you to make healthy choices when eating.

I know you are probably a little frustrated like most pregnant women, because your OB hasn’t educated you much on Pregnancy Nutrition.  

It’s actually quite frustrating for me…….

Aside from giving you a list of foods you should NOT eat, and weighing you in every week, that is pretty much it.  And it’s insane because what you eat doesn’t just affect YOU!   It affects the baby as well.

Its very easy to say “you have to slow down with your weight gain”, but not give you any tools or resources to help you.

 

I would eat crap and then feel guilty and so bad about it.

It was so bad!

 

Now, tell me if you agree with me………

When you’re pregnant and you get hungry…….  It like…… HURTS.

 

I would tell me husband that when I was hungry, he needed to do everything in his power to feed me.

I could not wait, not only would the hunger hurt but I would get BEYOND CRANKY?

So that you can get an idea of how you should be eating during your pregnancy so that you can be healthy, be creating the best possible environment for your baby, and so that you don’t gain EXCESS WEIGHT so that you are not super uncomfortable all during pregnancy and feeling huge and self conscious.  And so that you can lose all your baby weight fast postpartum.

Reason For Cravings

 

When too many hours go by without you eating (in pregnancy case 2-3), you have low blood sugar.

When you have low blood sugar, your body is in a state of emergency.

And the only thing it wants and literally NEEDS in order to create a homeostasis in the body is ………… you know you guessed it right…….  SUGAR!

 

So, its not just YOU!

It’s what is going on at the cellular level in your body.

 

At this point it is beyond hard to have WILL POWER and not “PIG OUT” on crap food.

It’s basically impossible.

 

And listen, keep doing that and the weight……….  It will start packing quicker than you think and before you know it, you gained well over 60 lbs which is incredibly hard to lose POSTPARTUM.

Now this is a recipe for not being able to lose your baby weight.

 

How To Prevent The Cravings

 

In order to not have low blood sugar (which causes sweet cravings), you have to eat every few hours.

You have to eat:

  1.  A lean protein
  2. A healthy starchy carb
  3. Some veggies

(or at least the first two).

 

If you do this and you never skip or miss a meal or snack, you will never have low blood sugar and you will never get cravings like you’ve been having again.

 

After that happened to me a few times during my first pregnancy, I began to make some healthy yummy sweet snacks and carrying them with me every time I left my house.

My purse was literally full of snacks.

 

As soon as I even thought I could potentially get hungry, I would have one.

I never pigged out the way I did those few times again during my whole pregnancy.

I never again had those sweet uncontrollable cravings.

 

That’s not to say I never indulged in a some real chocolate chip cookies or a a Kit Kat (love those) lol, but never out of control.

I could take a bite or two and be done.

 

Thank goodness, I took control and ended up with an only 20 lbs total weight gain.

Listen, I am such a foodie.

I freakin love food and I love to eat!

 

So to say that I am going to eat perfectly and deprive myself of all the things I love is UNREALISTIC.

And I would never be able to be consistent.

 

So that is why I decided to master cooking, baking and making it healthy.

And I found that by making a few batches of yummy healthy snacks that I loved, enjoyed and were sweet, they helped me to stay sane, not crave bad foods and still feel like I was eating a treat but GUILT-FREE.

 

Cuz all the ingredients in these recipes are good for me and the baby.
